As the weeks flow by, and we adapt as a global community to settle into shelter-in-place living, we may find ourselves shifting from initial shock to deeper feelings.
It can be difficult to do almost anything at times. Sleep, sit, stay inside, workout, work, study, rest, eat, not eat, talk to friends, stay silent, scroll, not scroll…the list of challenges goes on and on. Upheaval at this level is unsettling to say the least, and unprecedented to most of us.
We will come out of this together, stronger and closer than ever before. The following quotes may help us along this journey:
“Love, too, requires rest.”
Wayne Muller, Sabbath
If you’re feeling chained to gravity’s pull, give in. Rest with intention. Make space for this time of exhale. Wayne Muller’s Sabbath: Finding Rest, Renewal, and Delight in our Busy Lives—in the words of reviewer Naomi Remen, M.D— “…offers a surprising direction for healing to anyone who has ever glimpsed emptiness and the heart of a busy and productive life.”
“Adaptation reduces exhaustion.”
Adrienne Marie Brown, Emergent Strategy

“I’d say the one thing we have in common is that we’re sick of feeling afraid…We all want to be brave.”
Brene Brown Ph.D, LMSW, Daring Greatly
“What you appreciate appreciates.”
