Sculpt + Glow with Gua Sha Tool Facial Massage

Gua Sha Tool Massage

Facial massage tools are fast becoming coveted in skincare, but what are they, exactly, and what do they do?

Using gentle massaging techniques, tools can help to sculpt and maintain the youthfulness of your skin and face by massaging the muscles and encouraging facial toxins to eliminate. This allows your face and neck to look instantly more refreshed and polished. Consistent use of facial tools over time will maximize their benefits, encouraging your complexion to plump and glow in all the right places while resisting the effects of aging.

Facial Massage Physical Benefits:

  1. Increased circulation, which causes the skin to visibly plump, helping to smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  2. Increased lymphatic drainage, which moves toxins and stagnant fluids towards the body’s natural release points. This helps to de-puff the face for a more refreshed look.
  3. Massaged facial muscles, which helps to release tension and subtly “sculpt” your features.

Metaphysical Benefits:

Our Rose Quartz Gua Sha Tool is made of the universal stone of love. Using rose quartz while taking care of your skin will amplify feelings of love (i.e. self-love, romantic love, love between friends, etc). Refresh your loving heart with this ultra-healing stone.

Other crystal tools include our Amethyst Ritual Tool Kit, which brings divine peace and harmony, our Lapis Ritual Tool Kit, which soothes stress and revives energy, and our Jade Gua Sha Tool which is available in our Emerald Shop, and helps to heal and empowers the heart.

How often should I use my gua sha tool?

Consistent gua sha massage over time will deliver the most visible results by helping to support your skin’s regenerative efforts. We recommend using your gua sha tool at least twice per week, working up to daily use.

Which gua sha shape is best for me?

Herbivore’s Rose Quartz Gua Sha Tool comes in two shapes: square and teardrop. The shape that’s best for you is the shape that looks the most satisfying to use on your particular features. If de-puffing is your primary goal, the teardrop shape might be the most appropriate for you, and if sculpting is your goal you might try the square. The shape that’s best for you is truly a matter of personal preference.

What are the similarities and differences between facial rolling and gua sha tool massage?

Facial rollers and gua sha tool massages both increase circulation and lymphatic drainage while decreasing muscle tension, and both help to maintain the skin’s health and youthful looks.

The difference between—added benefit of using—a gua sha facial massage tool versus a facial roller is that the shape of a gua sha tools are more effective in “sculpting” the features through more targeted movements. If you’d like more direct massage under the cheekbones, for example, or firm pressure on the brow bone, our gua sha massage tools will come in handy.

How to use a gua sha tool for facial massage:

Step 1: Facial massage is most beneficial when used after your skin is cleansed and toned, and after you’ve applied your serum, oil, or both. Oil and serum textures help to minimize friction and tugging so the tool can easily over the skin.

Step 2: Following the arrows on the chart below, apply firm yet gentle pressure with the edges of the tool to massage your face and neck. Work from the center of the face outwards in even strokes. Repeat the same number of strokes on both sides of the face for a balanced and lifted effect.

Note – Be careful to avoid applying too much pressure with the tool, as this can cause bruising and capillary breakage, among other damage. Gentle strokes are the best and most effective.
